More Fun

Question: One of my New Year’s resolutions is to have more fun in my life. I am not quite sure how to actually live that.

Answer: A quote by Andrew Carnegie, “People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing” speaks to the issue you raise.

We all want to work hard and therefore be successful in our lives. But there are times when the intensity of our drive can begin to feel a little oppressive. That is when it is so important that you have something in your life to balance this. That is where fun comes in!

First step is to ask yourself, “Would my closest friends say I am fun to be around?”

Think about the different parts of your life: life, work, leisure. Identify where you are having fun. Add some fun activities to the areas of your life where you aren’t having as much as you’d like.

Next, do something that makes you laugh: rent a movie, go to a comedy club, schedule fun activities. We are all busy and if you don’t schedule it, it won’t happen!

And lastly, lighten up a bit! Don’t take yourself so seriously!
